For schools and teams
Speaking practice for every learner, between every class
Your learners get a few hours of class a week and almost no time to actually speak. ConvoLive gives them someone to talk to on the days you are not in the room. What we set up for you is the group, the situations and the report that tells you who is using it.
The gap this fills
In a class of twenty, one learner speaks for about two minutes an hour. The rest is listening, reading and waiting a turn. Homework is nearly always reading and writing, because speaking homework has nobody to listen to it. That is the half we cover: a partner who is available at eleven at night, never runs out of patience, and speaks eight languages.
What we set up for you
Accounts for your group
Send us a list and we create the accounts, set each learner's language and level, and send back the sign-in details. There is nothing for your IT department to install or approve.
Situations that match your syllabus
Tell us what you are teaching this term and the practice situations are built around it, in the language you teach and at the level your learners are actually at.
A weekly practice report
Once a week you get a list of who practised, for how long, and what they worked on. This is the part the app cannot give an institution on its own, and it is the reason most schools write to us.
Worth knowing before you write
- What we quote for is the setup, the syllabus work and the reporting. The figure depends on how many learners you have, so there is no price list to point you at.
- There is no single sign-on and no LMS integration. We create the accounts and your learners sign in with an email address.
- We do not grade or certify anyone. The report tells you who is practising, not who has passed.
- It teaches English, Spanish, French, Japanese, Italian, German, Mandarin Chinese and Portuguese. Nothing else, for now.
How it starts
You write to us
How many learners, which language, roughly what level. Two or three sentences is genuinely enough to get a useful reply.
We run one class as a pilot
One group, one term, at a price agreed before it starts. You see real reports on real learners before anything wider is discussed.
You decide
If the practice numbers justify it, we scale it to the rest of your learners. If they do not, the pilot ends and there is nothing further to pay.
Straight answers
How much does it cost?
- It depends on the size of the group and how much of the syllabus work you want us to do. Send your numbers and you get a figure back, not a sales call.
Do our learners need to install anything?
- No. It runs in a browser, so a computer lab or a school laptop works as it is. There are iOS and Android apps too, for learners who would rather use their phones.
What happens to their voice recordings?
- Voices may be recorded only to turn what was said into text and to score pronunciation. They are not kept afterwards. The privacy policy covers what is collected, how it is used and how long it is held.
We are a company, not a school. Does this still apply?
- Yes. Almost everything we set up for a language school works the same for a team learning the language of a market they sell into. The syllabus is different, the problem is not.
Try it before you write, if you like
Open the app in the language you teach and give it ten minutes, then tell us whether it belongs in your programme.
Tell us about your group
One email. Numbers, language, level. You get back what a pilot would look like and what it would cost.
