The bit that trips people up: the words disappear in connected speech
English is stress-timed. Unstressed words get squashed together — 'what do you want to do' arrives as something closer to 'whaddya wanna do' — so people who read English comfortably still lose the thread the moment someone talks at normal speed. Spelling will not tell you where the stress falls, and a vocabulary list will not either. You get it by hearing it and saying it.
