The bit that trips people up: cases, and the verb at the end
German asks you to commit to a case before you have finished the thought, and in many clauses the verb does not arrive until the end. That means you have to hold a whole sentence in your head while producing it. Drills do not build that capacity. Talking does.

Three phrases worth being able to say
Every learner needs these before they need anything clever.
- Können Sie das bitte wiederholen?
- Could you repeat that, please?
- Ich verstehe nur einen Teil
- I only understand part of it
- Wie sagt man das auf Deutsch?
- How do you say that in German?
German questions people ask
- Will ConvoLive help with German cases?
- Indirectly, and that is the point. You will not memorise a table faster, but you will build the reflex of producing the right form under time pressure, which is where cases actually break down.
- Is German pronunciation hard for English speakers?
- Less than its reputation suggests. It is consistent once you know the rules, and hearing a line then saying it back is the fastest way to internalise them.
